How to make chicken & dumplings from scratch
Homemade Chicken & Dumplings Recipe
Dumplings
In a big bowl, combine 2 cups of all purpose flour, 4 tbs of baking powder, 1 tbs of parsley flakes, 1 tsp of salt and stir in well
In a cup combine 3/4 cup fo milk and 4 tbs of butter. Warm up in microwave for 2 minutes
Then poor into dry ingredients and stir (dont over work dough)
Place in refrigerator
Chop up 1 onion, 3 celery stalks, and 2 carrots into small pieces
Boil chicken in a pot of water over med heat for approximately 20 minutes (if you dont already have cooked chicken meat)
Remove chicken and white residue
Add 2 bay leaves to pot of water, chicken broth, 3 chicken flavor bouillon cubes, 2 tbs of salt, 1 tbs of pepper, 1 tbs of garlic powder, 1 tsp of thyme seasoning, and chopped vegetables (carrots, onions and celery)
Allow veggies and broth to simmer on medium heat until carrots are done for approximately 40 minutes
Meanwhile, once chicken cool off shred into pieces.
In a bowl combine 1 pint of sour cream, 5-6 tbs of flour, 2 tbs of turmeric, and approximately 1 cup of water, stir in well
*** MAKE SURE SOUR CREAM IS WELL BLENDED AND SMOOTH BEFORE ADDING TO THE POT OF VEGGIES AND BROTH
Poor sour cream flour mixture into pot of water.
In table spoon fulls, scoop out dough into balls and drop into pot
After 5-6 minutes turn the dumplings over once they rise to the top
Add your shredded chicken or pre cooked shredded chicken to the pot and 1 cup of frozen peas
Turn fire off
