This new film emerged from a collaborative research project between UK dance company Stasis, Ailie Ormston and Daniel Cook, which engages with the social, geographical and political landscapes of the Scottish city of Glasgow. Hinting at the divide between public and private spaces, social surveillance, and access, the film—a performance that is both graceful and startling—pushes the dancers’ bodies through extremes of automation and recklessness. “The aim with this film was to create a performance for Candleriggs Square—the former site of the famous Goldbergs department store, which today is a demolition site. The area occupies a vast space in the city centre, and has been closed to the public since the original building was demolished.”
On the 10 August the public will be allowed to access the site when Stasis will perform ‘The Sedate’ live.
