Humans have long been interested in the search for extraterrestrial life. In the past decade alone, astronomers have discovered thousands of planets orbiting other stars in our galaxy. These “exoplanets” are too far away to be actually seen, even with our most advanced telescopes. Rather, we detect them when they pass between their parent star and Earth, dimming the star’s light at regular intervals. And that got scientists wondering … if we have the ability to “see” these planets …
